Finding a Place: The Book
Finding a Place is about many roads converging and diverging. The work will evolve over time, and explore multiple visual themes over many years. The title of this collection was originally inspired by the simple fact that I work as a Location Manager in film and television. The first part of my job is helping to find the places where we film. Sometimes this search is simple and obvious, but other times it is an incredibly complex and difficult journey that can take weeks upon weeks of searching. Creatively, this job is challenging and thankfully almost always interesting, although sometimes there is frustration - a polite term for the quick changing nature of filmmaking. Over the years, I have had the privilege to work on period westerns, post-apocalyptic dramas, historical epics, and even a couple of Disney musical fantasies. Through their inherent differences, each genre has offered unique challenges that have added to my voice as an artist.
