Dale Leckie: Wildlife, Landscapes, and Geology: An Alberta and Saskatchewan Touring Guide

Geology can be defined as "the science which deals with the physical structures and substance of the earth, their history and the processes which act on them." From the Rocky Mountains to the rain shadow of the prairies, from deeply entrenched rivers of prairie oases and glaciated terrain, geology has a strong impact on wildlife. The relationship between wildlife and landcape is explored and exemplified in the lives of golden eagles and the Rockies, the American pika and eroding mountains, of burrowing owls on glaciated plains and greater short-horned lizards living in a rain shadow. In this richly written and illustrated guide, Leckie interweaves science with spectacular photos, beautiful art images and maps to take you to the most interesting places in these two prairie provinces.
